Oh, what a career it has been for the former Japanese international, Nobuhisa Minobe! Today, the J2 team Gunma Kashima Onsen has announced that Minobe will officially retire at the end of the season.

The 38-year-old Minobe began his football journey at the prestigious Japanese football school, Maebashi Institute of Technology. In January 2010, he embarked on a European adventure, joining Bayer Leverkusen from Urawa Red Diamonds. Throughout his career, he has played for various European clubs such as Augsburg, Hertha Berlin, Boluspor, and Stuttgart. In 2017, he returned to the J1 League, signing with Vissel Kobe. He then went on to play in Thailand for Muangkan United and Bangkok United. In 2021, he made a heartfelt return to his hometown team, Gunma Kashima Onsen.

On the international stage, Minobe made his debut for the Japanese national team in September 2010. He has since represented his country in 30 matches, scoring one goal. He was a key part of the Japanese squad that clinched the 2011 AFC Asian Cup and also participated in the 2014 FIFA World Cup held in Brazil.
